Vacation

Tony and I went to Sedona for vacation last week.  It was the first time leaving Jax for more than one night.  I knew he would be fine hanging with the grandparents and Ahma but I was still a little nervous.  We called every day and talked to him and we even got to see him a couple of times on Tango ( an Android phone app that is like Skype).  I think we all had fun.  My mom picked us up around 11:30pm on Thursday and he was asleep in his seat.  He woke up just enough to see me and fall riht back to sleep.  Once we got home, he woke up again as I carried him inside.  I kissed him and put him in his bed thinking he was gonna go back to sleep.  Nope.  He woke up and gave me the biggest smile ever and started kicking him feet and screamed with excitement.  So I picked him up and we gave each other a big hug.  He gave me my time and then he saw his daddy.  He couldn't get enough of his daddy.  We ended up playing until 2am.  I'm so glad he had fun while we were gone but I'm also glad he missed us.
He's been pretty clingy since we got home but I assume that will go away in  couple of days.

Part time (The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly)

Well, I asked for it and I got it.  A couple of weeks ago I asked my boss if I could work part time, thinking she would once again say no, but this time she said sure, if that's what you really want.  I said to let me talk it over with Tony.  So after much talking and persuading, Tony said fine and so did my president, and here we are.  I start part time on August 1, only working 3 days a week.  There are a lot of pros to this situation,
  • I get 4 day weekends every week
  • more time to spend with Jax and Tony
  • more time to get things done so I actually have a weekend and time off
  • hopefully give my neck time to heal (it is killing me sitting in my chair 5 days a week)
  • I can help with the business
  • I can have some time to myself if I want it
  • we can take long weekends whenver we want now
  • I won't be wasting my day, doing nothing at work when I could be spending it with my family
But, there are also 3 big negatives:
  • I lose all my benefits (no more days off and no insurance)
  • less take home pay
  • I have become a statistic - I am basically uninsurable
We submitted a health insurance application last week and they turned me down right away, didn't even go to underwriting.  Basically, with my neck injury, no one is gonna want to insure me until they have to (2014).  I have to go on Cobra until I either run out of time (18 months) or I go back to work full time, or I get a new job with benefits.   Since I've already given my job the idea that I don't have enough work to fill 5 days at the moment, I don't forsee them saying okay, you can stay full time right now, so that's out.  18 months is a long time, anything can happen, maybe I will want to work more down the road after I've had some down time.  Maybe I will find a different job that I will like better and give me benefits.  Who knows?  I was basically freaking out all weekend, wondering if I was gonna get insured, but once I got turned down, I almost felt better.  Now, I don't have to wonder anymore.  It is what it is.  The healthcare system sucks and I am now one of many that it refuses to help.  It might actually be better to be on Cobra since I have my same benefits and they cover so much of the procedures I am going through right now for my neck.  Hopefully I will be able to get healed on Cobra for much cheaper than any insurance plan I would get approved for anyway.  That is my hope.  Gotta look at the positives.

Working part time is supposed to be a positive good thing for me, so I'm not gonna dwell or stress about this.  Or at least I'm gonna try not to.  We are all covered for at least the next 18 months. Tony and Jax will get their own plan and I'll be on Cobra.  We already live off of Tony's paycheck, so hopefully he will continue to be blessed and bring in the big bucks.  :-)  God will provide and show us what to do.  I just want to be with my baby and my husband and get my body better and I think this is the only way to do that.

Teething again and a weekend update

Jax has been very snotty and miserable for the last week.  No fevers, just a runny and itchy nose.  He's also been pushing his food away and only wanting bottles and purees.  No real food or not very much of it.  I feel so sorry for him.  Can't imagine what teething feels like.  He's a trooper though.  He woke up in the middle of the night every night last week.  Once we finally realized that it might be teeth again, we gave him Tylenol before bed and he slept the whole way through.   I figure we will be seeing some new teeth in the next couple of weeks.  Hopefully sooner so he will be out of pain.

He bumped his head pretty good twice this week in the same spot.  He's got a big bruise over his left eye.  He just got a little too independent in his exploring and he fell in between his jumper and a table.  Note to self, when baby gets a boo boo, give him a snack.  Nothing else worked.  Now we know.

He learned to walk behind his little push cart this weekend all by himself.  He pulled himself up behind it and it started to move forward, so he took some steps forward and walked across the room all by himself.  I was shocked but proud. :-)  He also figured out how to push himself on the firetruck toy.  He is getting too smart for his britches.

He was a real mama's boy this weekend, super cuddly and playful with me.  I loved it.  I think Tony is a little jealous of that.  He thinks Jax only likes him for playtime.  I don't think that's true.  I've seen them do their own version of cuddle time.  It's very cute.  Jax loves his daddy and his daddy loves Jax.

Mamamamamama

My boy said mama for the first time last night.  I know he doesn't know what is really means yet, but he said it.  I was in the kitchen and I heard what I thought sounded like mmmamamama.  So I told Tony to turn the TV down and we kept saying mama mama mama and finally he said mama over and over.  He looked so cute.  It was like he had to think about how to make his mouth move.  Yeah!

My mischievious little boy

Jax loves these little night lights I have all around the house.  He likes to pull them out of the sockets and then proceed to eat them and occassionally he will try to put it back in, but obviously I can't put it back in by himself yet.  This weekend, he left a trail of 3 night lights on the ground.  Once he got one out, he would crawl over to the next one he saw and pull that one out.

He knows he's not supposed to do it and this is the look I get when he gets caught doing it.  How can you get mad at that?

10 months ( a little late)

Lots has happened between 9 and 10 months.
  • You learned to crawl.  You are now a pro and are so speedy, you are like a little bug on the floor.  We almost have to run to catch you.
  • You are walking along the couch and entertainment center now.  You love pushing all the buttons to hear the beeps.  Daddy doesn't like that though.
  • You got 2 bottom teeth at the same time.
  • You said dada for the first time.  Now you love to babble dada, daddy, yayaya.  Occassionally I will hear an mmm sound from you when you are crying but you still haven't said mama.  Grandma says you've said kitty and Ahma says you've said thank you.  I don't know if I believe either of them. ;-)
  • You can steer your walker like it's your very own car.  You like to chase Sadie all around the kitchen and through the hallway.
  • You like "reading" books now.  You point at the pictures and want us to tell you what it is.
  • You ask questions.  Huh?
  • You have a definite bedtime now, 8:30-9pm and you usually sleep until 7am when I wake you up for your bottle and then go back to sleep until 9:30am.
  • You are taking baths in the big bath now.
  • You are eating pretty much everything we eat.  You still don't care for mashed potatoes.  Don't know why.
  • You give kisses.
  • You know who daddy, mama, Sadie, Joy and some of the other family members are.
  • You are trying to stand on your own but not ready yet.
  • You are playing with us more often.  You start the games now.
  • You point to the lights and fan
  • You wave hi and goodbye.
  • You hold your sippy cup like it's no one's business.
You grew up too fast this month.  I feel like I've missed some stuff.  You are looking so much like a toddler now.  Your hair is finally coming in, although, it changes color in every light so we still don't know what color it is.  I still think it's gonna be auburn like mine.  We will see.

4th of July 2011

 Our little firecracker!
 He got his balloon.
 First 4th of July
Watching the fireworks with Aunt Kristi
Me and my little man.

Jax loved the balloon Ahma got him.  He played with it forever, batting it back and forth.

We had a great time for Jax's first 4th of July. We invited some family and friends over and grilled and shot off fireworks. Jax really liked the light showers in the back yard but was a little scared of the pops of the big fireworks. He watched from inside most of the time but always had his face to the window to look at the show. Tony and Reggie put on a great display this year. The grand finale was better than last year.
