Randoms

Jax has been doing some gymnastic moves lately.  He will stand in the kitchen, bend over, put his hands on the floor and stick his butt in the air and look though his legs to see if you are looking at him.  It's very cute.

I've never been to whole Foods before.  I wonder if I'm missing anything or if it's just an overpriced glamorized grocery store.  They probably have some different fruits and veggies that I could expose Jax to.

Jax has learned the word MINE and is using it all over the place.  Everything is MINE.  The air around him is MINE according to Jax.

We started listening to music at dinnertime.  Jax has begun to have an opinion on which songs he likes more than others.  When a slow song comes on, he will sway from side to side to the music.  When a fast rock song comes on, he will rock from side to side and kick his legs in his chair, and when an R&B song comes on with a good beat, he will bop his head, sway and kick his feet all at the same time.  The kid's definitely got some rhythm and knows what he likes.

We really need to teach him the correct meaning of the word NO.  Everything is no.  Ask him any question and he will answer... NO.  He has about 3 different versions of NO and they are all so freakin cute.  I never thought I'd love to hear the word so much.

He is a runner.  But he is also very clumsy and has the scratched knees to prove it.

He falls victim to the fake cry from mommy.  If I ask him for a kiss and he won't give it to me, I'll will fake cry and sniffle and he will come back over and give me a big kiss on the lips.  Sucker!  Just kidding. :-)

Major Meltdown

So Jax had a major meltdown yesterday.  We got home from daycare and when we got inside the house, he went and got his sidewalk chalk and headed straight for the door.  Well, I took too long to get outside so he blew a gasket.  Screaming and crying all over the house.  Finally, we made it outside and he was happy enough.  Here is how the rest of the adventure went.

Me: Do you want to color over here Jax?
Jax: Wah!!!!!! No!!!
Then he runs away from me like I'm gonna beat him or something.
He runs around the cars, across the front yard screaming at the top of his lungs.  Finally he stopped in front of the window outside our bathroom.  He just stood there screaming and waiting for me to make my move so he could run away from me.  I jsut stood there laughing at him which I know didn't help but it was a sight to see.

Me: Jax, do you want to play with the chalk?
Jax: No!!!!!!!!!!!!  Wah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me: Do you want to go for a walk?
Jax: Nooo!!!!!!!!!!! Wah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me: Do you want Sadie to come outside with us?
Jax: NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!  WAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally I picked him up and took him inside kicking and screaming.  I took him into the living room so if he started throwing himself on the floor, he wouldn't hurt himself.  He just stood there and screamed and cried for a few minutes and then ran away from me again.  I continued to laugh a little bit because if I didn't, then I would have gotten mad. I tried to ignore him like everyone has told me to do, but how long can you ignore a kid screaming at the top of his lungs, running around like a crazy person?

I offered him his pacifier which usually fixes everything, but he acted like it was the plague and ran away screaming.  Tony said to give him some watermelon, but I didn't want to reward his tantrum with something he wanted.  But after about 20 minutes of screaming, I gave in and he got some watermelon.  That finally shut him up....until I asked if he was all done with it.  Wah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  After a few minutes of that, we went over to the garbage can and I let him throw it away by himself.

Then we went and read some books and all was good in the world again.  If it all wasn't so funny, I might have gone a little crazy yesterday.  Is it bad that I laughed?

17 months

I'm late again but better late then never.

This month you have perfected the word NO.  You use it all the time.  For the most part, you use it correctly.  When asked a question, you answer NO.  But sometimes you say it so much, that you says NO for things that you really means Yes.

You are getting 5 new teeth this month which brings us to a total of 15 I think.  4 have broken through but you won't let me see what the other one is doing.  So of course this means no sleep for anyone for the past month.  Come to think of it, I don't remember the last time we all got a straight week of uninterrupted sleep.  How did 2 people who love to sleep get a baby that has such problems with it?  Not fair. :-(

You have started not going back to sleep in the middle of the night unless we put you in our bed which has us questioning our parenting on this one.  What is the right thing to do?  Stay up until he goes back to sleep and be zombies all day or give in and let him pass right out in our bed and everyone gets some sleep?

You are talking a mile a minute now.  I don't know what you are saying half the time but you are saying little sentences of gibberish all the time.  You've picked up a lot of new words.

We practice saying our ABCs.  He can go up to G and then he gets bored and stops repeating them.

I am teaching you to say I love you.

You are still a fickle eater.

You like to build towers of blocks now.  You can build a 10 block tower and then look for the different animals on each one when mama asks you where they are.

You still have such a sweet personality.

You know what you want and how you want it.

Your favorite thing is still reading books.  Although, you have been playing with your other toys more often.  You can play by yourself now which give us a little spare time.

Everywhere we go you call different people daddy for some reason.  You love saying his and Sadie's names.  You even call people on the tv daddy.

It is so fun to watch you grow and explore our little world.  I love you more everyday.

Houston...we have a problem

A problem is brewing but not quite yet a full fledged problem.  Jax has never been a great sleeper but he is cutting 5 teeth at the moment and he was sick last week.  So the past week he has been waking up inthe middle of the night and not wanting to go back to sleep.  We've gotta go to work and we can't stay up for hours every night. So we have taken him into our bed and he usually falls right to sleep pretty quickly.  Well, now, that's where he wants to sleep every night.  In between us.  Thank goodness we have a king size bed.  I know it was kinda stupid or naive of us to let him in there in the first place, but when he doesn't want to sleep in his bed, he does not let up.  He screams and screams and stands up until we take him out.  We try to soothe him or lay him back down but he gets right back up ans screams some more.  We've tried to just let him cry it out and he will cry until he makes himself so upset that he can't settle himself back down.  So we take him into our bed.

Well, what do we do now?  He is so content to sleep with us and be close to us.  We are all sleeping better and it is sweet sleeping next to my little baby but I don't want him to get too comfortable and sleep in there forever.  I'm conflicted as to what to do.  Do we just ride this out and see how it goes or kick him to the curb now?

Puke!

So, Jax puked for the first time last night.  I know babies puke all the time, but this was the first real, disgusting, big boy puke of his life.  It was Gross with a capital G.

He started crying at around 1:45am, so I got up to go to him.  I went in the room and this horrid smell took over my nose. I had never smelled anything like that before. I had no idea what I was about to encounter.  I turned the lights on to see Jax standing in his crib looking for his pacifier.  I went to get it out of his bed and since I was still half asleep, I stuck my hand in this nasty gooey whiteish gunk.  I freaked out.  I didn't know what end of my kid whatever I had just touched came out of.  I looked down and saw green beans, macaroni and cheese bits and curdled milk all over the bed and Jax.

I don't do well with throw up.  I yelled for Tony to get up and help.  I cleaned up Jax and Tony cleaned the bed.  I took Jax into the bathroom and he began to puke again.  This time trying to do it all over me. he was heaving and breathing this nasty breathe all in my face.  I almost puked myself but I held it together somehow.  I held him over the sink and he just cried and puked.  He had no idea why his little body was doing this to him.  It was pretty sad to watch.  So I cleane dhim up again and tried rocking him but he wanted some milk, so I gave him a few ounces and rocked him some more.

I told Tony to put a towel on our bed so Jax could sleep in there.  When I brought Jax into the bedroom, the towel was just thrown on top of the covers doing no good.  I had no hands to fix it so I told Tony, that if he pukes in the bed, he pukes in the bed and it's his fault.  So we all try to go to sleep and a few minutes later...splat, puke all over our bed.  Lovely!  We once again clean everyone up and realize that we didn't buy a second set of sheets for this bed, so we just laid a sheet over the bed, put a towel where Jax was laying and tried once again to go to sleep.  A few minutes later, Jax starts dry heaving.  It was so sad.  He was on all fours, heaving and I was on all fours, leaning over him, rubbing his back and Tony was telling him he'd be okay.  His little face, uh, it just looked so confused and scared.  Finally, he just collapsed and passed out and we all finally got some sleep.

This morning, Tony was pretty much pushed off the bed and Jax was sleeping horizontally.  I had to sleep facing away from him because his feet were in my face.

He is doing fine today and Tony took him to daycare and they said that all the babies were puking yesterday so there must be a bug going around.  Great! :-p

Another first in parenthood but we all survived.

So cute

Jax has this little jet plane that makes a loud plane noise when you push a button.  I've seen him fly the plane over his head before but today he actually made the plane sounds as he was doing it.  It was so cute and such a little boy thing to do.  My baby is growing up too fast. :-(
